Alen Baes is my alter ego. It’s a pseudonym I created when I was ten. I used to write poems and short stories and I liked signing them under the name of Alen Baes. I probably thought I would look more interesting if I used an alias like famous writers do.
I am a person of many interests and diverse skills. I made my first steps into the world of dance, theater and ballet. I studied business administration. I finished my degree in Belgium where I stayed for five years working in the finance department of a multinational company. I also wrote and staged a theater play. Throughout my life I have worked as a choreographer, personal trainer and I have taught dance, Yoga, Pilates classes on several occasions.
As you can imagine, I have always had a hard time making up my resume every time I had to apply for a job. Having too many interests can be daunting and work against you when applying for a position. Because of my many avocations some of my friends call me a “Renaissance man”.
I am currently studying Psychology at UNED. I can say I have rediscovered my true passion in Psychology. It is something I have always liked and to which I could dedicate the rest of my life. To keep this side of me separate from the rest of my eclectic life, I have recuperated my interest in my old pen name. That is why I have transformed Alen Baes into my Internet persona for my Saicology blog. All the posts that I write in this blog are signed by Alen Baes.
People who already know me since my childhood may think that I have a long history of name changing. I think it is wise to use an alias for Internet writing. For some time I wrote a very controversial blog and I am glad I did not link it to my main profile. Changing one's name has also been a common practice for initiates once they have passed through the ritual of the initiation in order to show that the person has been changed and a new self has been born. Going back to school at my age feels like an initiation rite to me.

Alen Baes es mi alter ego. Es un seudónimo que creé cuando tenía diez años. A esa edad solía escribir poemas y cuentos cortos y los firmaba bajo el nombre de Alen Baes. Probablemente me creería más interesante utilizando un alias como hacen los escritores famosos.
Soy una persona con intereses diversos He hecho mis pinitos en el mundo de la danza y el teatro. Estudié administración de empresas. Terminé mis estudios en Bélgica, donde permanecí casi cinco años trabajando en el departamento financiero de una empresa multinacional americana. A mi regreso a España escribí y dirigí una obra de teatro. A lo largo de mi vida he sido coreógrafo y he trabajado como entrenador personal y profesor de danza, yoga y Pilates en varias ocasiones.
Como podrás imaginar, siempre he tenido dificultades para componer mi curriculum vitae cada vez que tenía que presentarme a un empleo. Tener demasiados intereses puede jugar en contra de uno a la hora de solicitar un trabajo.
Actualmente estoy estudiando Psicología en la UNED. La Psicología es algo que siempre me ha gustado y a lo que podría dedicarme el resto de mi vida. Para mantener este lado de mí separado del resto de mi ecléctica vida, he retomado el interés por mi antiguo seudónimo. Así es como he transformado a Alen Baes en mi imagen virtual para este blog. Todas las entradas de este blog escritas por mí están firmadas por Alen Baes.
Las personas que me conocen desde pequeño sabrán que tengo una larga historia de cambios de nombre. A menudo es interesante mantener el mundo virtual separado del real mediante un seudónimo. Por otro lado el cambio de nombre ha sido una práctica común para aquellos que debían pasaban un ritual de la iniciación, con ello demostraban que habían realizado un cambio importante en su vida, un nuevo renacer. Volver a la universidad a mi edad está siendo como un rito iniciático para mí.
