Thank you to everybody who has been following my posts in this blog. I want to announce that I am no longer continuing this blog. I finished school and now I have my own practice. I will continue posting in Spanish in www.sergiobilbao.com but I will discontinue my posting in English for now.

However this blog will continue to be online in case anybody wants to check some information out.

Neighbors, aren't they lovely? (EN)

I have been spending a lot of time in my room during the past month. I had to prepare for my final exams so I locked myself up with all my books for the past four weeks. Now it is almost summer time and I like to keep the window open. Unfortunately my room overlooks a small patio inside the building where I can hear the neighbors as if they were talking from inside my apartment. 

A few days ago, one of the neighbors, a very polite lady with a very soft and delicate voice, inspired me to write this post. 

Anti-pedagogical sentence of the day (heard last tuesday in my patio at 9 am):

Discrete neighbor: "I don't have to teach you anything, you have to learn, you hear me?, you have to learn, I DO NOT HAVE TO TEACH YOU, YOU HAVE TO LEARN!"

Nice education methods!

That happened last week and I wrote a post about it (in Spanish) the very same day. The day after that, I came across my mother on the street and she said...

Mother: "The neighbor told me you wrote a very nice post yesterday".

Busted! 

I had no idea that neither my mother nor the neighbors read my post. I guess I will be moving out soon (just kidding).

El Patio de mi Casa (ES)

Desgraciadamente mi cuarto da a un patio interior donde puedo escuchar a los vecinos como si estuvieran dentro de mi casa. Últimamente, debido a los exámenes finales, paso mucho tiempo en mi habitación estudiando, así que he tenido tiempo de oír de todo durante estas últimas semanas. 

Esta mañana, una vecina, que suele hablar en tono muy suave y delicado, me ha inspirado para escribir este post.

Frase antipedagógica del día (escuchada hoy en mi patio a las 9 de la mañana):

Vecina discreta: "¡Yo no te tengo que enseñar, tú tienes que aprender, me oyes, tú tienes que aprender, YO NO TE TENGO QUE ENSEÑAR, TÚ TIENES QUE APRENDER!"

Viva la educación :o)

Política Psicoeducativa (ES)

Parece que cuando hay unas elecciones salen muchas emociones a flor de piel y algunas personas empiezan a comportarse de manera más enfática que de costumbre.

En este post me gustaría transmitir un mensaje a esas personas a través de un símil con la educación.

Una de las críticas a la enseñanza actual es que se preocupa por la transmisión de conocimientos, pero no enseña a pensar.
